What to Expect
Cursillo is basically a short course in Christian living. It is an opportunity for you to live, for a weekend, in true Christian community, and to experience God's abundant grace. It doesn't attempt to answer all the questions of your personal spiritual journey, but it does give you a method to use on that journey after the weekend.
Cursillo is not a quiet retreat, but rather one filled with interaction with other persons making their Cursillo also. You will find it stimulating and full, so come well rested in mind and body!
Arrival Time and Departure
Plan to arrive promptly between 6:15 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Please, do not arrive early for you may find the gate closed. The team will be eager to welcome you, but they must have everything prepared before you arrive. Plan to have supper before you arrive. The Cursillo experience requires your presence for the entire weekend, so plan to stay through the closing service, which will conclude by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Clothing for the Weekend
Cursillo is conducted in a very casual atmosphere, so you will need only comfortable, casual clothes for the weekend. We will be wearing slacks, jeans, sweats, etc. Although most of each day will be spent indoors, remember our Arkansas weather! During the day it could be cool or warm, but it can be quite cool on the mountain in the evening, so be sure to bring sweater, coat, or jacket. Be prepared for rain with an umbrella and rain gear. We will be doing some walking, so bring some comfortable walking shoes. You will need a flashlight.
Housing at Grace Lodge
You will be sharing one of the bedrooms with two or more single beds. There is separate housing for men and women, so couples should pack separately. Please, leave watches, clocks, and radios behind. Your bed linens, blankets, pillows, and towels are provided. You should bring your personal toiletries. |
